APPRENTICE PROJECT
THE BUZZ WIRE
Behind our name is a mechanical engineering company now run by the fifth generation of the Dango and Dienenthal families. We have been around for 160 years. We are now represented worldwide with over 850 employees.
If you are looking for variety, motivation and team spirit and want to start your professional career with a global market leader.
Our giant forging manipulators are the largest of their kind in the world. It is not without reason that these machines look like gigantic prehistoric monsters. In addition to their massive steel body, which weighs up to 1,000 tons, they have an enormous tong. They have a span of more than two meters and, when open, look like a voracious mouth.
The forging manipulators are used by our customers in the forging industry. With their tongs, they grab red-hot metal blocks weighing up to 350 tons and hold them under an equally gigantic press. After each stroke of the press, the forging manipulator turns the red-hot metal a little further. In this way, stroke by stroke and turn by turn, a giant turbine blade for the aerospace industry, for example, is created.
Then start your apprenticeship with us and join us in creating these monsters.
With locations in South Africa, North America, India, Japan, China, Mozambique and Sweden as well as representatives in many other countries, our group of companies is at home all over the world. Mutual exchange with other cultures is therefore an important part of our day-to-day work and cooperation.
With this in mind, we offer you the opportunity to complete a four-week internship abroad as part of your training. Our trainees usually travel to one of our subsidiaries in South Africa or China. There you will not only get to know the country and its people, but you will also be able to see for yourself how we implement projects with international colleagues and partners.
Whether you're a sports fanatic, theme park junkie or technology freak - no matter what your interests are, you won't miss out with us. Because as a trainee, you are entitled to many benefits with us.
Your pay is based on the agreement between the IG Metall trade union and the employers' association Gesamtmetall - the so-called Entgeltrahmenabkommen (ERA). This means that you will be paid in accordance with the collective agreement for the metal and electrical industry, including special payments such as vacation and Christmas bonuses.

Work. Vocational school. Private life. A lot changes in your life when you start your apprenticeship. As an employer, it is important to us that you are able to cope with these changes and that you have a good work-life balance.
We welcome all those who actively contribute to the further development of our company. We rely on a high level of personal responsibility and initiative.
Choosing vocational training is the start of a new chapter in your life. We want to make this start as easy as possible for you.
Once a year, trainees and trainers visit one of our customer companies to experience our machines "in action". Equipped with safety helmets and high-visibility vests, they visit a forge or steelworks.
When the massive door of the large industrial furnace opens, the heat hits you and a red-hot block of metal weighing tons is then shaped by one of our manipulators under the press - you won't forget this experience in a hurry. We promise!
But it's not all about work here, we also organize team events such as soccer tournaments, laser tag, company runs and joint visits to the Christmas market. These events offer you the opportunity to exchange ideas with other trainees and colleagues from different areas of the company.
Our trainees of today are important specialists of tomorrow, whom we want to win for us in the long term. That's why we would like to continue to support you in your personal and professional development within our company if you are taken on.
Fun fact: Many of our employees started with us as apprentices themselves. Some spend their entire professional career at D&D. There are even families who are already the fourth generation to work for us. That makes us extremely proud!
